Privacy Policy

Kite moves files and calls directly between devices. We have no servers, no accounts, and no analytics — your data never passes through us.

This policy explains how Kite (“the app”, “we”), made by SEEN Code, handles your information. In short: Kite is peer-to-peer. Everything you send travels directly from your device to the device you choose, over your local network or short-range radios. Nothing is uploaded to us or to any third party.

Information we collect

None. Kite does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking, or third-party data SDKs. We run no servers, so there is nowhere for your data to go except the device you send it to.

How transfers and calls work

Kite discovers nearby devices and connects to them directly, using your local Wi-Fi network or device-to-device radios (Bluetooth and peer-to-peer Wi-Fi for Off-Grid mode). Files, photos, clipboard text, and call audio/video travel only between your device and the receiving device. They are never routed through, stored on, or visible to any server.

  • Files you receive are stored locally on your device, inside the app. You can view or delete them at any time; deleting the app deletes them.
  • Calls are live streams between the two devices. We do not record, store, or have any access to them.
  • Off-Grid relay: in Off-Grid Long Range mode, a transfer may hop through other nearby Kite devices to reach its recipient. Relayed data is forwarded in transit only, addressed to its recipient, and is not saved on relaying devices.

Your name and photo

The display name and optional profile photo you set are broadcast only to nearby devices so people can recognize you before accepting a file or call. They are not sent to us. Choose a name you're comfortable showing to people around you.

Permissions we ask for, and why

  • Local network — required to find and connect to nearby devices. This is the core of the app.
  • Microphone — used only while you are in a voice or video call.
  • Camera — used only while you are in a video call.
  • Photo library — the app reads only the photos you explicitly pick to send, and can save received photos when you choose to.

Each permission is requested the first time the feature is used, and the app works without any permission you decline (that feature simply stays off).

Purchases

There are none. Kite is completely free — no in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads. We never handle any payment information because there is nothing to pay for.

Children

Kite is a general utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone — the app collects nothing by design.

Data retention and deletion

Because everything lives on your device, you are in full control. Received files can be deleted inside the app, and deleting the app removes all of its data. There is nothing to delete on our side — we never had anything.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how Kite handles information, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
