Share files and call the people around you — iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android — even with no internet.

Getting started

Open Kite on both devices. Devices on the same Wi-Fi network find each other automatically within a few seconds.
Tap a person to send files or photos, or use the phone icon to call them. The first send asks the receiver to accept — they can allow you permanently.
You can also share into Kite from any app using the iOS share sheet.

Nobody shows up?

Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network (guest networks are often isolated — devices on them can't see each other).
Check that Kite has Local Network permission: Settings → Apps → Kite → Local Network.
If you set a channel in Kite's settings, both devices must use the exact same channel.
No Wi-Fi at all? Nearby devices can still appear via Off-Grid mode — keep both apps open and within range.

Off-Grid Long Range

Off-Grid mode connects devices without any network — using Bluetooth and peer-to-peer Wi-Fi — and can hop through other Kite devices to reach people beyond direct radio range. It's free and unlimited, like everything else in Kite.

Calls

Voice and video calls work between any two devices that can see each other, entirely over the local connection.
If call audio sounds wrong, make sure both devices run the same app version from the App Store.
Video is available on Wi-Fi connections; off-grid calls are voice only.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Kite is free — every feature, including Off-Grid Long Range. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads, and no account to create.
