Overview
The internet is not always there. Kite doesn't need it.
Kite talks device to device — over the Wi-Fi you're both on, or directly between phones when there's no router, no signal and no data at all. Nothing is uploaded, because there is nowhere to upload it to. No account to make, nothing to pay, and no one in the middle: a building site, a boat, a market, a flight — anywhere the network stops, Kite keeps going.

❶ Files, at full size
Photos, videos and documents go straight across at local-network speed — no compression, no upload wait, no 25 MB limit. Send a folder of originals the way you would hand over a drive.
❷ Messages that stay put
Threads with the people nearby, with photos inline. Everything lives on the two devices that were talking — there is no server holding a copy.
❸ Voice and video calls
Call anyone on the same network — or on no network — without a phone number, an account, or a minute of data. Clear audio, because it never leaves the room.
❹ Off-grid mode
When there's no Wi-Fi at all, devices find each other directly and carry on. The same messages, the same files, the same calls — with the router unplugged.
❺ Nothing to sign up for
Open it and you're in. No email, no phone number, no password, no profile. Pick a name and the people around you can see you.
❻ iPhone, iPad and Mac
The same app across your devices, and across other people's. Drag a file onto the Mac and it lands on a phone in the next room.

No subscription, no in-app purchase, no ads, no account, no analytics. Kite costs nothing to run — there are no servers behind it — so there is nothing to charge you for and nothing of yours to sell.
Kite works over local Wi-Fi and direct device-to-device connections. Both devices need the app, and range depends on your network and hardware.
